It is very important for safety reasons to wear an ankle high with a smoothe sole and a 1/2 inch heel. Do not wear hicking boots or boots with hicking boot type sole as the may get caught in the stirrup. The low heel keeps the boot from sliding all the way through the stirrup. Boots may be lace-up, zipper, or elastic slip on. Cowboy boots are fine to start out with but jodpher or Paddok boots will be required after a year if rider is not riding western. Atthletic shoes are prohibited. Athletic shoes can slide through the stirrup and does not offer adeuate protection if a horse should step on a riders foot

All Children under the age of 15 are required to wear helmets. You will need to purchase your own helemet within a month of starting lessons. A poorly fitting helmet can cause serious problems. When the helmet is on, it should not be possible to pull it down over the eyes. We recomend Aegis and Troxel Helmets.

All Riders must wear full length pants, no shorts, capri pants, or stretch pants unless stretch pant is specifically designed for riding. We strongly recomend riding pants. Either Kentucky Jodhpurs, which are long pants with a bell bottom and straps that go under the boot to keep the legs from riding up, or Breeches wich is the style hunter riders wear.
